Karma

When I was a kid I stole this little plastic tube of lipstick from a friend at her house. At the time it seemed like a good idea, and apparently I really needed to have it ( I have no fricken clue what prompted this). Anyway for years my sister who discovered my heist has teased me so I am coming clean!

I am a petty thief and ever since then I have been living the good life and making good decisions like when my neighbors new puggle (very cute) puppy got out THREE times in one day. I calmly (until the third fricken time, take care of your responsibilities people) walked the dog over and returned her to people I am not very fond of. (They run an illegal day care and did not even say thank you or I’m sorry any of the three times I returned there dog, who I did think about keeping). I did the right thing and gave her back.

Now in Victoriaville Texas a homeless man only identified as Chris has been put in the spotlight when he found a young women’s purse in a target store parking lot. Apparently the women had cashed her paycheck leaving $1000.00 in cash in her purse, and while securing her children in the car forgot and drove off.

This man found the purse, mind you he is homeless and living in a nearby shelter, he used this women’s cell phone to track down a friend who then informed her friend. Although he admitted thinking for ” ten seconds” of keeping the cash, “but, it wasn’t mine” said the man. The women gratefully thanked him as this was her rent money, he even refused the $50.00 reward she tried to offer him.

Here is my question, would you have done this, I can tell you I without a doubt would have returned the money (although I could have spent it all on shoes at Nordstoms as well : ) . . .). Once you picture losing something dear to you, would someone return it?

A neighbor in my old subdivision lost her husband to cancer. He was a very special man who is missed very much. Well not long after his passing her car was broken into in her driveway. The degenerates (assholes) who did this stole her camera that contained a large amount of pictures of her husband. She was devastated, and posted a sign in her yard that said, “the camera you took has pictures of my late husband please return even the memory card, as it is all I have left.” She woke the next morning and scratched on the sign in large letters was the word, NO.

Trust me I remember people even though I didn’t know his name I remember the man who gave up his first class seat so “M” and I could sit together on the first flight we caught out of LAX after being stranded for two days. He paid for First class and gave it up so two people he didn’t even know could sit together.

I believe that Karma is real and we all have demons inside us we control, but bottom line this man had a chance and did the right thing. He deserves a second chance and some help to start over with his life. Bottom line, we do not all get what we deserve and or need. Bottom line when was the last time you gave up your seat on the EL, or held a door for someone?

Till next time
